The Prayer of Being
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world." Psalm 19:1-4
Lord of the heavens, Creator of every atom of our world, let me not assume that my act of being is not enough. Let me shun the notion that I must achieve, I must do, I must act, in order to glorify you. That in order to bring you joy, I must be more than myself. The heavens declare your glory and the skies proclaim the work of your hands. They aren't slaving away to create the beauty you've already placed in them. They are simply being. Father, when I'm tempted to compare myself with others, or even with my own ideas of who I should be, give me the freedom to simply be. As the earth glorifies you in how you've made it, let me bring you joy by being the truest and more genuine version of myself.
