This Election Is Not The End Of The World!

Just a few thoughts...
I know politics and the election right now is dragging a lot of people down to that gross spot where we judge, belittle, and criticize beyond belief. Battles of nastiness and hateful words and insults are thrown, and it's sad that this is what an election has come to, that we choose the leader of our country based on how much bad things he or she says about those they are running against, instead of focusing on how much good they themselves can do. I know this isn't what goes on 100% of the time, and some of the debates and speeches are focused on what whichever candidate can do to help our country be all it can, but still. It's hard not to get caught up in all the hate and criticism and everything. There is definitely a reason for people to get a little fired up. This is a crazy time in our history, and it's probably going to be one of those elections that history teachers will talk about in a hundred years and wonder how in the heck we came to this. It could be an election than changes the very foundations of America.
I was wondering how we would live, if so much could be very possibly changing in the near future, changing the way we live, work, etc. How could we go on living the life we've come to know and love as "American." But how much of that is really important, in the long run. Jesus isn't American!!! He isn't bound by country lines or loyalties. I know he loves, LOVES Americans, because this is true of every single person of the face of the earth. He LOVES every person in every culture, everywhere. But nowhere in the Bible is it found that God loves America. Nowhere in the Bible is it found that countries need to have a democracy in place in order to please God. I love our democracy. I love America, because it is my home. But when all is said and done, when we all join our Heavenly Father, no one will care whether we come from America, Russia, China, Belgium, Antarctica, wherever. America isn't the only country where people live for Jesus, and a democracy isn't the only government set up where we are able to spread the Good News. America is not a country after God's own heart.
I really love small businesses. I really, really want to government not to stomp them out. I really enjoy the freedoms we have, that we can go to church, and that there are laws protecting our churches, so that the government doesn't have too much control over them. I would really, really be a little pissed if this changed. But how important would this be? Churches all over the world are run illegally. People all over the world are loved in Jesus' name, even in countries where Jesus is all but scoffed at.
Our job is to vote for what we know to be right and true and good, but if there are no right and true and good choices, we just have to make the best choice we can and hope our country doesn't fall apart. And if it does?
We can still love like Jesus loves in a country run by Trump. We can be a light to the people living in our communities that society may despise.
We can still passionately pursue like Jesus in a country run by Hilary. For real, we can. No one can tell us that we can't love on our neighbors like there's no tomorrow. No one can tell us that we can't talk about and love Jesus with all that is in us.
And really, that's the only thing that matters, that will still matter in a hundred years. Love that comes from Christ conquers all, and even if our country is vastly different than we would like it to look, wherever you fall on this election's scale of crazy to crazy, that is what no one can take away.
This is not all to say I don't care or I'm not going to vote, or anything like that. This is to say that in this freaky, uncertain time, we don't have to worry! We don't have to freak out! We can still be the people Jesus has placed us here to be, no matter the outcome!
